Collection: Maggioni's Shrimp

L.P. Maggioni & Company employed more than 2,500 people, and in its heyday was the largest employer in the state of South Carolina. At one point they purveyed low country shrimp to the King & Queen of England! Proud of their family name, they naturally wanted a signature “Maggioni’s Shrimp” label. Having different labels for some of the same products also allowed more variety on the shelves at the stores. The Maggioni family hired several different companies that had artists on staff who did the design work on their can labels. Some of it was “cut art”, which explains the similarities of the shrimp on some of the labels.
